By McIvor Times

COLBINABBIN’S A grade netball side remains ladder-leaders in the Heathcote District Netball League after a win against a competitive Huntly side on Saturday.

Scores: Colbo 50 d Huntly 40.

A reserve: A great team effort this week showing that we are continuing to improve as the season goes on.

Lily and Mardi were strong in the ring and moved the ball quickly and confidently.

Milly continued her great form in defence, taking intercepts and deflecting many attacking passes.

The boundary incentive went to Abbey Blow for her best on court performance in WA.

She was aggressive, dynamic and made some spectacular passes into the goalers.

Scores: Colbo 35 lt Huntly 49.

B grade: Colbo 26 lt Huntly 71.

B reserve: The girls all had a very good game but the brilliant defence from both under 15 players, Stella and Jo, was outstanding.

They guided the ball all the way down the court to Sophie and Jazz who fed into our goalies.

Best on went to Jo, for her great attitude towards the game.

Although we came away with a loss, it was a great effort by all the girls.

Scores: Colbo 17 lt Huntly 53.

U17: After a well deserved break, the girls got straight back into the swing of things with a 49-goal win over Huntly.

Keely Parker moved quickly around mid-court, committing to her leads and timed her passes in to Ella Kerlin, who used her defensive skills by intercepting everything that got loose from goals.

Zara Myers put herself in the right position every time and regained countless possessions for the team.

Awards: Keely Parker (Rochester Sportspower) and Zara Myers (Subway).

Scores: Colbo 73 d Huntly 24.

U15: The girls had a tough game this week against Huntly.

With everyone trying their best, their 27 goals were not quite enough to get on top of Huntly who won by eight.

We started off strong in the defensive end with Jo, Stella and Riley, teaming with the attackers Matisse, Dana and Monica, with Kenzie in the centre.

Summer and Zoe shot well and Jaz was back in the team after her foot injury.

Colbo were up at half-time and with all girls playing well they showed just how much they have improved since the start of the season.

Scores: Colbo 27 lt Huntly 35.
