Double treat for Mason

Heathcote Bowling Club secretary Paul Mason enjoyed two wins this week.

HEATHCOTE Bowling Club secretary Paul Mason is in top form, winning on both days of the club’s social bowls events this week.

On Wednesday (August 30) in cold and windy conditions, 21 bowlers braved the elements and played three games of pairs and triples.

The only three game winner was Paul Mason (s) and John McGillivray (three wins, 43 points, +17 shots).

Runners-up were Chris Cail (s) and Alan Perry (two wins, 33 points, +11 shots) from Ray Anderson (s), Lorraine Speirs and Dave Coote (two wins, 33 points, -2 shots). The jackpot was not won.

On Saturday, September 2 in overcast and cool conditions, 20 players enjoyed three games of pairs.

The winner again was Paul Mason (s) and Heather Baker (three wins, 42 points, +11 shots).

Runners-up were Chris Cail (s) and Brian Taylor (two wins, 1 draw, 34 points, +2 shots), from Dot Cutajar (s) and Smokey Dawson (two wins, 33 points, +6 shots). The jackpot was not won and will be $200 today.

Sunday October 1: Practice Match — Heathcote vs Kilmore at Kilmore starting at 1pm.

With pennant season starting in October, the bowling club is looking for new members.

The club offers free training and bowls are available for new comers.
