HEATHCOTE’S under 12 football team hit the ground running at California Gully on Saturday to take on Eaglehawk.
Fresh from a two-week break, the Saints trio of Damon Ryan-May, Thomas Johnson and Ryan Foster all slotted through some nice goals in the first quarter.
The Fergo brothers, Brayden and Harrison, were a lethal combination in the second. Brayden scored his first goal for the game, soon followed by Jesse Bruce, leaving Eaglehawk somewhat deflated before the half-time break.
Once again Heathcote’s backline reigned supreme deflecting everything Eaglehawk kicked.
It was great teamwork from defenders Seth Creevey, Taylor Maiden, Callum Devine, Matilda Edsell-French and Tanika Cook.
Ryan Foster and Brayden Ferguson had some great dash each taking advantage of the wide ground to both score their second goals for the game.
Kody Johnson had a fabulous day finishing with a goal in the fourth, plenty of support from Jimmy Pringle the tackle master. Nik Hansson, Blake Maiden and Oliver Ayres all unlucky not to boost the scoreboard with the forward line flooded, it wasn’t easy.
Excellent tap outs from the ruckman Tommy Johnson who out stretched his opponent all day before Jesse Bruce pounced and snapped his second before the siren.
It was a solid team effort, well done Saints.
Next week’s game will prelude the seniors on Saturday, 9am at home.
