THE ladies who arrived at Heathcote Golf Club for the monthly medal on Wednesday, July 5, wisely decided that coffee and conversation were definitely preferable to the challenges of a wet course and inclement weather.
Adrian Goudie confirmed his return to form in the midweek monthly medal with an 80-11-69 to take out division one on Thursday, July 6.
David Morris streeted the field of 23 with a great round of 87-23-64 to be crowned the medal and division two winner.
Ball winners were: Gary Boyes 95-26-69, Larry Maxwell 76-6-70, Laurie Mueck 79-8-71, Ian Furneaux 94-22-72 and Roy Williams who put together a good round of 98-27-71.
Birdies went to: Garry Boyes (3rd), David Morris (8th), Larry Maxwell (13th), Paul Wintle (14th) and NTP plus superpin to Larry Maxwell.
The ladies played a 9-hole stableford aggregate on Saturday, July 8 with the duo of Jan Case and Daphne Hall tasting victory with their 30-point total.
Ron Blachford and John Dobie were the winners in the men’s aggregate with a total of 69 points, just shading the runners-up Larry Maxwell and Chris Dunn on 68.
In third place was the team of Laurie Mueck and Mitchell Hogg (65 points). NTPs went to Murray Green (13th), Phil Coleman (16th) and at the 18th hole: Gerard Ellis (A grade) and Bill Ring (B grade and superpin).
Sir William’s sensational tee shot on the 18th finished close enough for a tap-in birdie.
Birdie balls went to: Phil Coleman and Bill Ring (18th) and Murray Green (7th). Murray’s superb three earned him a big five points plus the golf ball.
Garry Boyes’ 16 points made short work of the opposition in the encouragement award derby.
A match in the mens pair knockout was completed with Gerard Ellis and Steve Ryan defeating the top qualifiers David Clouston and Bill Ring.
