Heathcote's under 17 football side worked hard but to no avail against second-placed LBU at the weekend.

ON a beautiful sunny day at Nichol Trading Oval in Lockington, Heathcote’s Under 17 football side took on second-placed LBU.

Once again, Heathcote had a poor first quarter, failing to get a score on the board while LBU kicked five goals straight.

Although the team tried hard, inaccurate kicking resulting in 16 behinds and just three goals ultimately cost them the match, going down by 37 points.

Next week sees the Saints take on the Grasshoppers at home and if the team keeps up the good effort and keeps their heads high, they will hopefully come away with a win.

Final Score: LBU 11.5 (71) defeated Heathcote 3.16 (34).

Best Players: William Tobin, Jye Formosa, Jack Brooks, Lachlan Freeman-Taber, Flynn Pianta-Cook and Colin Humphrey.

Award winners were:

Connallys Player of the Week: William Tobin.

Leroys Backhoe and Plant Hire Award: Jye Formosa.

The Oval Cafe Award: Jack Brooks

Job Done Award: Lachlan Freeman-Taber.
