Ladies star on golf course

A SMALL field played a stableford round at Heathcote Golf Club on Monday, June 12.

Larry Maxwell took out first place with 34 points from ball-winners Greg Long 33, Ian Furneaux 31 and Mitchell Hogg 31.

Wednesday, June 14:

The ladies stableford event was a battle of the A graders with Ann Bainbridge-Robb victorious on 36 points from Regina Driver on 31.

Ann also won NTP 8th while Regina was closest on the 18th hole. Daphne Hall took out NTP 2nd shot 18th.

The concurrent 9-hole competition was a cake-walk for Faye Lyall in fine fettle posting 20 points.

The final of the pairs knockout was completed with Cathy Shaddock and Jan Case winning 2-up against Carol Stuart and Lynne Fouracre after a close and hard-fought tussle. Congratulations to Cathy and Jan on their win after their disappointing loss in last year’s final.

Thursday, June 15:

A field of 21 men played a stableford event on Thursday. Greg Long won division one with 38 points and John Dobie was best in division two on 36 points.

Ball winners were: Son Quach 35, John Blundell 34, John Gastin 34, Terry Shiels 33 and David Ellenby 33. Birdie balls went to John Gastin (6th), Terry Shiels (10th), Ian Furneaux (12th), Laurie Mueck (13th) and David Ellenby on the 18th.

A par ball went to John Dobie; NTP to David Ellenby and the encouragement award to Peter Hughes.

Saturday, June 17:

The GOTY stableford event attracted a field of 12 ladies including two visitors.

Stephanie Wearne was at the top of her game winning A and B grade with 38 points from runner-up Judy Langford from Wodonga Golf Club on 32.

Stephanie also won the NTP 18th hole. Faye Lyall continued her impressive form from Wednesday to finish on 34 points which earned her the C and D grade honours.

The men’s stableford competition attracted 28 members and visitors. Dean Jones was best in A grade with 35 points and Steve Ryan accounted for the B graders with 36.

John Dobie completed the weekly double in C grade with a scintillating 43 points just edging out the very popular Martin Sims on 42.

Balls went to Martin Sims, John McGillivray 35, John Blundell 34, Greg Long 34, David Ellenby 33, Ian Frost 33 and Wayne Glatz 33. NTPs went to Laurie Mueck (16th) and at the 18th hole Ian Frost (A grade), Adrian Goudie (B grade and superpin) and Ian Furneaux (C grade).

Visitor, Travis Pool from Neangar Park, secured the 13th hole NTP by sinking his tee shot for his very first hole-in-one. Congratulations, Travis.

A men’s pairs match was completed with John Blundell and Bryce Pianta comfortable winners over Greg Long and Stephen Hudson.
