Heathcote's junior footballers braved icy weather conditions in the games against Huntly on Saturday.

HEATHCOTE Junior footballers hit the ground running on Saturday, hosting Huntly on a white and icy Barrack Reserve Oval.

It was Lexi Jorgenson-Neave on fire in the first quarter heating things up for Heathcote.

Brooke Maiden, Thomas Johnson and Ryan Foster dominated in the second quarter pushing the ball forward resulting in goals for Brayden Ferguson and a first time goal for Niklas Hansson. Great team effort after the half-time break with siblings Brooke, Taylor and Blake Maiden getting plenty of action.

Ryan Foster, who makes Usain Bolt look like a snail, halted Huntly’s persistent attack through the centre resulting in three goals to Brayden “Fergo!”

Welcome return to the club this week to Jesse Bruce for a big six-pointer in the final quarter.

Ami-May Burgess showed Huntly no fear with quick hands to Tommy Johnson resulting in another major. Fergo scored another before the final siren, five for the match, cementing a great win for Heathcote. Excellent team effort this week, Saints!

Next week is a bye before the blockbuster home game on Sunday, June 18 at 10:30am against ladder-leaders Kyneton.
