THE first fundraiser of the season for the Heathcote Cricket Club will be held in October.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the fundraiser on town community noticeboards and in the McIvor Times.

The cricket club is also currently seeking interested community members to help with bar work and serving food at the club.

■ THE HEATHCOTE cricket club is looking to develop a mixed junior cricket club to cater to 12 to 16 year old players with games and skills training.

Heathcote Cricket Club’s Tom Tobin said the cricket club hoped it could start the junior cricket club to get children interested in cricket who would then become senior players.

‘‘The kids of Heathcote and district are really the future of the club,’’ he said.

■ HEATHCOTE and district community members are being encouraged to sign up for barefoot bowls at the Heathcote Bowling Club.

Barefoot bowls is due to start in town in November.

Registration day will be held at the Heathcote Bowling club on Sunday, October 30.

Heathcote Bowling Club secretary Peter Cunningham said the club was looking forward to starting the event again.

‘‘It’s been very successful for the last two years and we’re looking to build on the success of that,’’ he said.

Mr Cunningham said both individuals and teams were welcome to join the competition.

■ Toolleen defeated Commercial in the second semi-final played last Wednesday, September 14 at the Axedale Tavern.

The Preliminary Final will take place today (Wednesday, September 21) at 7pm at the Union Hotel, when Union (A) will come up against Commercial
